The worst resume in my opinion would be the last resume. I'm not sure if the picture has been lightened or if that's the design in mind. If so I'll start off with the lack of contrast within the type draws my eye to the logo on the left. Pulling my attention away from the actual information. The text is too cluttered. It has terrible leading. The light orange colors disappears within the body copy. Horrible use of bullets. I think instead of using every bit of information on one page. Down size your information to just your strongest points and to the bare essentials! Most employers receive resumes constantly. They don't have time to read large amounts of information. It says "creative" next to position desired. It doesn't scream "creative" to me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite resume would be the second resume. The orange works better in a bigger font size. The use of large bullets and the box around each topic helps creative good visual contrast. Excellent use of leading. It's simple and easy to read! Straight and to the point.

The first resume is boring. There is a bullet missing next to the word phone. It mostly centered. The use of hyphens and parentheses just looks bad to me. The only good thing about the resume are the bullets in the qualifications sections. The second resume is straight to the point & well organized I think. I like the color choice. Also they did a typeface combo. Nice touch. The third one has a little content disorder. Maybe put the the bold font in black and the body in another color. Also I'm not really sure what the images are on the side for. The last resume is just the definition of DO NOT HIRE ME!!!! The leading is off. The logo on the side is too big and it's not very creative at all. The bullets are used all wrong. The professional experience does not look professionally laid out. There is whole lot wrong than I care to type at this point.... Maybe the employer thought the same.
ReplyDeletei like the last ther resumes. The first one just seems like the average resume with nothing really special added to it. However it would depend on the position the person is appling for. The last three resumes would be for a job you that you needed to do some design type things, and since a resume is a company's first impression of a person, those would seem like a good time to show some of their skills. the first resume would be for lie a simple job or someone who possibly doesn't have any skills at all :(

The last resume has to be the worst resume. It makes me want to barf all over it. Let's start with the obvious. This person used a boring font and coupled it with terrible size, and leading. The orange and grey colors used are muted and look like they are fading. The information is cluttered. Bullets everywhere, bold text, colored text, and italics. It's hard to focus on a single piece of information. I see some typos and changes in structure. The image on the left column is hideous.
ReplyDeleteI really hope that this is not a real resume made by a graphic designer.
the first one is boring and plain, nothing really interesting and its
ReplyDeletepoorly organized and overloaded with information.
the second one isnt awful but its pretty bad. it looks disorganized
and unprofessional
the third one in my opinion is the best. while not entirely
professional it is well designed and looks impressive and well though
out. while looking concise and cohesive.
the fourth is easily the most awful. its far too overdone and busy. it
looks just awful. who ever did it should be tried for murder.

for sure the last resume. there is not a specific alignment also it all put together (huge junk of information) with no sense of space. the leading is so close that it's even harder to read. the use of too many fonts make this resume really unprofessional. and finally in the word portfolio he used all the colors of the rainbow. (horrible) another thing that caught my eye was that the e-mail address is unprofessional to use for a contact information in a resume.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I really like the third resume.

At first I thought it was the first one because it was boring, but then I checked out the fourth one and it was gross. There's really awkward spacing, everything's just clumped together (how is anyone going to be able to read this without getting lost...), the sizing and font type is ugly, I can get that they wanted to use more interesting colors than black, but the colors they chose are muted and boring and look like muck altogether, and the way they tried to emphasize certain points by using underlining, italics, bigger font, is just kind of messy. I get their intentions though, they wanted to make it look interesting, but they kind of failed and it just looks really gross.
ReplyDeleteI really like the professional look of the second one. It's modern looking, but it also has a designer's touch. The third one is obviously the most appealing.
The first is basic, created by all black text and centered alignment. It would not stand out against any other. The second one would have to be my favorite because of the dab of color added and the clear organization of the document. The third is nice, but a bit too simple. Perhaps it needs something on the right side to balance the piece out. I would have to agree with my classmates on the fourth being the worst. By using many little options, the whole document lost a sense of effectiveness. It makes the piece look cluttered.
ReplyDeletethe first resume doesnt stand out very much. the others have there own personality. the second resume stands out the most to me mostly because of the contrast of colors. three and four have nice design and well organized but three seems a little dull using one color and four has great contrast. one thing i see is i dont know if its the design or the the way it was saved but the colors look faint.

I believe that the first resume is too plain. And its too crowded. Also the last resume it's design well, but I also believe its crowded. And the fonts are allmost the same sizes.

i really like the 2nd and 3rd, they are simple yet look unique. the think the 3rd one is my favorite, i really the images used, and the white space. The first one is very generic and boring looking, where as the last one is very tacky, and just all over the place. Overall the more simple design, where the most succesfull and made more of an impact.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with some of my peers that last resume is the worst. I feel like is too much, the fonts feel like is everywhere. Also I feel number one is a little too boring. From far away it looks like everything is center.
ReplyDeletei beleive the first resume is extremly busy and looks like a boring document to read and my favorite is the secound one
ReplyDeleteI think all 4 resumes are awful! The first one is alright but not much to look at and i don't know why they set the bottom centered...weird...the 2nd one makes you rocket to the right and move to the left in search for the info..i really don't care for the font size in the 3rd one or the pictures...and the 4th one geeezzz i feel like my eyes are going to have epileptic seizures.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is pretty ordinary "generic" the last one is the worst. The first one is expected by most, the others aren't. The most successful would be the second and third. The last one worse than the generic first resume, which makes the graphic designer look a bit cheaper than the generic one. Atleast with me he would. And tacky. Were do you find these? Lol well the last one atleast.
ReplyDeletefirst one reminds me of grandma
ReplyDeletethe bottom 3 also remind me of grandma but when she was younger
