Observing Mountain Dew

Mountain Dew has gone through many logo changes. They must have a lot of money to do so. Do you think they've improved on their old look(s)?

  1. I think they did improve their logo from their fist two logos, because to me the first ones look way to simple and not very attractive. The third logo has dynamic and attracting design. The fourth design is not an improvement i think but is different, id see it in sport sponsorship. the fifth one is kinda the third one but with out the crowding of those top and bottom lines which makes it a lot clearer and still dynamic.

  2. I have never saw this before or remember seeing any of them. Its really interesting how by the design you could tell Mountain Dew been out for a while. Each design gets better and better by the years so yes I do think they have improve on their logos. Also I like how the color have never change over the years.

  3. Improved? Hmm, i'm not so sure I can say whether or not they have improved. Mountain Dew is a drink for young people, I mean when have you ever seen a 45 yr old ask for one? As a drink targeted towards a younger crowd they need to change ever few years to jump onto the visual trends of the current generation to stay "cool." So whether it be the traditional look, or the one that resembles a snowboard companies logo. They have always remained relevant for the times. With all this aside, I personally do like a few of the modern ones better. But of course I would, I'm from the generation they were trying to catch with those designs.

  5. I've been drinking Mountain Dew for a while and never really paid attention to the logo. But, looking at the all of there logos from start to now the first one sucks, BADLY!! To me the second one doesn't even look like it belongs on a bottle/can you would want to drink out of. The third one does seam to stick out a little bit which says to me "A grab me." Maybe someone made the fourth one in a rush or something because it's just flat and boring. The last one is some what like the fourth one just slanted. The designs flip flops between good and why was it made.I say they improve to decrease just to improve again.

  6. I don't know if I would say Mountain Dew improved the logo. I think what they did was adapt to their consumers. Mountain Dew is known to have young consumers who are into the extreme sports scene. Even by abbreviating the word mountain suggests something that is fast paced. Everything about it such as the diagonal placement, sharp edges, and bold colors, emphasize their attempt to be the "edgy" soft drink.

  7. Mountain Dew has been many years on the market and evidently they don't want to have an outdated image for the consumer. The consecutive logos do a good job of maintaining the same or similar colors, image after image, to ensure a standard association to the product. Whether they have improved, I could only say that the last image has been an improvement to the previous one. All the others are just simply different.

  8. I don't think they improved at all! I think they just simplified it by abbreviating "mountain." It looks to me, that the advertising company or Pepsi Co. (the actual owners of Mountain Dew) wanted to try a simpler approach but still keep it edgy. I know that some of the older logos are outdated but you have to remember Mountain Dew has been around since the 40's. So in a way they have made an improvement over the years. My personal favorite is the third logo!

  9. I don't think that they have a lot of money. i think that's why they have changed the logo so many times. going down the logos they get smaller and more economical(less color use). I think through all the different logos somehow they improved for better because they started to observe their customers and have in mind their age range.

  10. the logo seems to have bemomce more simple and somewhat "extrmeme." In my opinion thier logos have gotten worst which is part of the reason they are going back to their originanl look or image in their latest campaign. I think their logo has not improved, and it just keeps on getting smaller and smaller. By constantly changing thier logo their logo, Mountain Dew is not making it easy for people to familiarize with their image.

  11. I really like the old, vintage look that the first picture offers, but I dont think the consumers would purchase the product as much if they kept it the same... the second picture is my least favorite of them all... Although both words are in a sans serif type, I dont like how the word "mountain" has sharper corners than the word "dew" I think they should have kept it the same, either both sharp or both rounded. And the dingy yellow they used... no bueno. -_- The third and fifth picture are almost similar in the way they are both slanting at an angle. but having the overall look of the third one seems so conjested. there seems to be so much going on with the fisheye effect, and the partial outline that they added is just too much for the eye to look at. The fourth one is more simple and straight to the point. They cut down the word "mountain" and abreviated the word to make it a little more trendy (who doesnt abreviate these days), and modern, but still an ugly design. the colors look faded too. This one doesn't catch my eye as much. The fifth design has good color quality, has a little bit of the older look (3rd picture) yet still as the abreviated word that keeps it up to date. I think overall the current mountain dew logo has been a success.
