I can see why there is much controversy over the new design. It is a very dramatic change for a more modern and contemporary look. I feel that the original design is classic and straight forward. The more vibrant colors and image stand out to me in a positive way verses the new design where the colors are more subdued. Although, I do like the little leaf they added near the cap. When I think of Tropicana orange juice I think of fresh, sweet, and bright. All these traits are lost in the new design.
I like to see changes in anything. I think everything and everybody should have changes in the life. The font they used is readable and the cup of juice invite me to taste it.
In my opinion I would be mad as well. I don’t mind the change but for me it just looks like a regular juice now. It doesn’t feel like is 100 % natural orange juice. So I see why people are mad beside that I love the colors and how simple it is.
I feel that the newer design was well executed and clean looking. I know they were going with a across the board new look for their whole line of juices, but it does look very much like a generic store brand. Consumers look to the package as a sign of quality, and I think they were very smart for sticking with their customers wishes to preserve the brands integrity.
I like the new design. It looks more professional in a sense that its fun to look at because how smooth it looks. But I would want to keep the original because its such a classic design I dont really like change.
I agree that the updated design made a drastic change. Since everything about the design was different then there was a lost of connection from the customer to his reliance of image. If the old design is widely accepted then it's ok to keep its most pertainable icons. -jeanette
new Tropicana looks a lot more modern and simplistic. The Sans serif typeface used is legible and stands out from the image in the background. I think this new packaging will attack younger costumers. I like the new design a lot better than the old one, it seems like the new design gives Tropicana a more sophisticated and "high class" vibe.
It is true that the new design that Tropicana has does make it seem like a more generic brand than the one that it is. The new design however isn't really all that bad i think that the only thing that has the customers outrages is how they have to read and know it's Tropicana rather than just looking at the more comfortable and well know orange and the straw. I do like though how since the cap is a circle they decided to at as if it was an orange and just add some leaves to t rather than putting the orange and straw up there like in the old version. It could be that the lightness of the orange and the name brand might throw some people off from what they're used to and they would browse right pass it.
I remember when I walked into the supermarket and saw Tropicana's new design and I must admit, I was a little dissapointed. It looked way too similar to the generic Market brand. As an experienced company, the people who were designing the new look should've realized that too much of a dramatic change would upset buyers. The iconic orange in the straw has been in their commercials, their magazine ads, coupons, and of course on their box. It's basically what buyers, such as myself, think of, or see, when we think of Tropicana orange juice. Now, I admit that yes, the original design was a bit old and outdated, but it was classic. The new design, in my opinion, looks unappealing and too modern for my taste. I just tend to "trust" the original design more. I'm not a hardcore orange juice fan, nor am I against change, but I just felt that the new design was on a totally different spectrum from the old one. In terms of general package redesign, I agree, we need a change every once in a while. Like the Pepsi can. I don't really remember the old design and I don't have a problem with the new one...Which I guess can be an effect of passing time (I'll probably get used to the Tropicana one sooner or later.). However, as a consumer, I like to see the iconic symbols of the product to stay the same, simply because it's been ingrained in our mind as the representation of that product. Changing the font and placement of information is fine.
I think the old design is much better since it distguinshes from the rest when u see it in the fridge and the store. The new one just makes it feel regular and plain nice lettering in it though. The orange in the straw its what you think about when you think about tropicana. Martin Castro
i think that a change in design shows a companys insentive to catch new eyes and shows a little about there dedication to the consumer.my pernonaal opinion on the change of art work is that the new onw is better. my favorite part is the way the cap was turned into an orange By: Joseph Galvan
no one likes change, it's just human nature. Horrible move from Tropicana. Why would they repackage their already over priced orange juice, when it was doing just fine "image wise".
I prefer the classic design over the previous version. Simply because i'm a more visual person. Eye catching graphics are more appealing to me. The newer version is to bland and almost looks like a generic version of a brand of orange juice. Plus the orange with the straw are in my eyes, are the logo for Tropicana. My style of graphic design is more bold and visually stimulating. All in all, i guess it comes down to personal preference.
Chris: The old design is better than the new one will ever be. The old one lets you know it's orange juice and you can drink it with the straw in the orange. The font on the old one stands out more the new one. No on reads from top to bottom when your in a rush. The new one just sucks...
maybee its a right thing to do as a company and listen to the fellow customers. tradition is away in that people choose to live their lives and changing the traditional design to a modern one might of gone opposite of others life style in wich can result in negative feed back just as the more modern design has aquired . but me personally i like the new design we are now living in a more modern age and i think its right its just a matter of time until people get used to the new design -marvinx
it looks more dynamic. i love the bright colors it gives the sense of youth and happiness. it's a more commercial package (more economical) old one is more traditional designed compare to the new one.
I think that the new package was a good attempt to making a change for the company... i thought it looked more modern and simple... it was difficult for me to realize what company it was at first.. i think if i were at the supermarket i would pass it by and not realize that it was tropicana... the "straw in the orange" pretty much made tropicana, and it was a very strong symbol for the company so to get rid of that was pretty bold of them... i mean change is good... but not if its going to effect consumers who are wanting a specific product. i do like the new packaging because of its modern and contemporary look but i think for the consumers sake keeping it the way its been is probably best.
New package looks modern and simple not as creative as old package. New package isn't as bold and doesn't use very strong colors. It looks like they toned it down a little to much. New package used different font stles and font sizes. Old package uses upper and capitalized words.
Congratulations on making it through your first marathon-long day of class. Good comments above. Some of you should write a bit more next time, but overall I can tell you actually made careful observations. I MARKED EACH OF YOU DOWN FOR EXTRA CREDIT.

The new design is much classier with a shinny glass and new title but it does take away the uniqueness and the natural feeling the orange gives.
