Logo Critique

Interesting logo, but could use some fine-tuning. What's wrong with it?

  1. Of Los Angeles Public has no space of it's own. The County Library font is too simple. No personalty of it's own as well. County Library is to big. It takes over the image it self. Of Los Angeles County is to small. It's centered... BIG NO NO. Maybe it shouldn't be a little rainbow wave wheel thingy. A different choice of object maybe. Nice white space though. That is all I can see for now Ms. Low.... Have a Good One... :)

  2. Thanks for commenting, Chris. Here's my critique:

    1. I read "County Library" first, then "Of Los Angeles Public." If you say this out loud, it sounds really strange. A simple solution would be to set "Public Library" in large bold letters, and "County of Los Angeles" in small type (note "of" does NOT need to be capitalized).

    2. The contrasting type sizes (large, small) is actually fine, and helps the reader see what's most important first—as long as it's in the proper order! (See #1 above.)

    3. I agree that the small type is crammed right now. One solution would be to set the small type in ALL CAPS so there's no awkward spacing above and below it.

    4. The upper and lowercase letters in County Library also create awkward spacing problems. Yes, try a different font or try in all caps.

    5. No major problem with the "rainbow wave wheel thingy." This may represent a "reading rainbow" or a colorful book—which has some meaning in the world of books.

P.S. Remember "it's" has the same meaning as "it is." So reread your comment and see if it makes sense. If it sounds weird, then you don't need the apostrophe. If you learn this one thing from me, I'll be so happy! :L)

  3. Your welcome Ms. Low. Very true.... I use to watch Reading Rainbow... Good Times. Also your right, (it's) is not correct. Next time I will number them as well. It goes faster that way... :)
